Service of Remembrance
When relatives are making plans after the death of a loved one, they may wish to hold a small family burial or cremation, and then to arrange a larger scale memorial service to celebrate the life of their loved one. This may be on the same day as the burial or cremation, or may take place at a later date.

There is no prescribed format for a memorial service. You may wish to choose readings, both from the Bible or well loved passages from literature. Sometimes families wish to choose music that was significant to their loved one. The Vicar will discuss your wishes with you, and seek to put together a form of service which best suits the occasion.

Fees are not prescribed for Memorial Services. There are likely to be local fees, set by the relevant Parochial Church Council, for example for the organist, or for the Vergers. Your Vicar or Churchwardens can advise you about this – click here for contact details.
