This coming week beginning on Sunday 4 October and finishing on Sunday 11 October, we are focusing in our worship – both in Church, in our daily prayers, and online – on the themes of gratitude and generosity.
To help in our reflection on these themes we will be:
- Focusing our Sunday worship online and at the 10.30 service at St Cuthbert's Haydon Bridge and All Hallows' Henshaw on Gratitude on Sunday 4 October and Generosity on Sunday 11 October.
- Exploring the story of Harvest Generosity through a special pattern of Daily Prayer we will follow at one of our regular daily services of Morning and Evening Prayer through the week. You can find this special order for Daily Prayer on our website or email the Vicar if you would like a paper copy of this order of daily prayer to use at home.
- Encouraging people to support the work of The West Northumberland Food Bank by making donations of Food or money. Although we traditionally bring these gifts to Church this year we would like to encourage you to use the donation points at either the Haydon Bridge Co-op or Bardon Mill Village Store - this will allow for the much more Covid-safe offering and collection of Harvest gifts. If you would like to help financially details of how to do this can be found on their website.
- Taking the opportunity to reflect on God's provision for each one of usand how we might use that generosity to support the ongoing work of the Church.
Although the past few months have been some of the most challenging many of us have had to live through, they have also shown the deep generosity within our society and the gratitude we have for the skill and dedication of those who have cared for us and served us in so many different ways.
We hope that these coming days will allow all of us to respond through prayer, action, and personal commitment, to the generosity God reveals to us all in the grandeur of creation and the gift of his Son.
