Eastertide
Eastertide is the time in the liturgical year of the Church that focuses on celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ beginning on Easter Sunday and ending at Pentecost (Whit Sunday)
Easter Sunday
Jesus Christ is risen, Alleluia, Alleluia
For 40 days following the resurrection Jesus prepares his disciples for his departure and ascension into heaven.(Luke 24, verse 50)
Ascension Day
All Hallows' Church celebrated Ascension Day with a Holy Communion Service presided over by Rev'd Canon Steve Wright. This was followed by a supper in the Church Room, which, as well as being a very pleasant social event after the restrictions of Covid, raised much needed funds for the Church.
During the seven Sundays leading upto Pentecost scripture readings from the book of Revelation, written by the apostle John, have been explored.
Pentecost Sunday
This is the seventh Sunday after Easter when the Christian Church celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. The Vicar had previously invited everyone to wear red and spoke about the symbolic meaning of this.
Jubilee Celebrations.
This year Pentecost Sunday coincided with the celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Many of us enjoyed the 'Party in the Park' . The event at Redburn Park provided the opportunity to meet with friends and neighbours and celebrate the amazing 70 years of the Queen's reign. A lovely afternoon tea was provided by the Bardon Mill WI. The children had a happy time expending a huge amount of energy playing football and other games.
Many thanks to the ladies of the WI and all those involved in making this a joyous and memorable occasion. It is greatly appreciated..
