Sunday 5th April 2026
A Benefice Service attended by parishioners from St Cuthbert's, Greenhead, the Parish of Beltingham with Henshaw and from Holy Cross was held at Holy Cross Church, Haltwhistle.
The service was led by the Rt Rev'd Mark Wroe, Bishop of Berwick. The following extract is taken from Bishop Mark's Easter message addressed to a church almost full to capacity.
'The events of Good Friday and Easter Day are earth-shattering and world-redeeming. At the same time they are person-shaped and deeply grounded in human life-why else would the women encountering the risen Jesus in person fall to the ground and take hold of his feet (Matthew 28:9).
You and I live in the light of this ground-breaking and earth-shattering reality. Our enthusiasm stems from believing and trusting in this indescribably good news'.
At the end of the service Easter eggs were distributed by some of the children present. Coffee and refreshments were served.
Bishop Mark judged the wonderful Easter bonnets and the pace/paste egg competition.
Christ is Risen. Alleluia.
